Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-07-04.
OurLocalHelp ("we", "us", "our") operates the OurLocalHelp mobile app and website, a hyperlocal community platform. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and the rights you have over it under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).
1. Data we collect
- Identity: phone number (verified via OTP), full name, optional email.
- Location: the Country/State/City/Area you manually select — we do not collect precise GPS or background location.
- Content you post: posts and listing details, photos you upload, responses, ratings, saved items.
- Device data: a push-notification token, device type, and app usage needed to operate the service (crash logs, basic analytics).
2. How we use it
To operate the feed, listings, notifications, moderation, and the trust/rating system. To keep the community safe (moderation, abuse/report handling). To contact you about your account or activity.
3. What we never do
We do not sell your personal data. Your phone number is masked from other users — contact happens through the platform. Content you post publicly (per its visibility settings) is visible to other users as intended by the feature.
4. Third parties we use
Firebase (Google) for authentication, push notifications, and app security (App Check). Our hosting provider for the database and file storage. We do not currently use any third-party analytics or advertising vendors.
5. Data retention
We keep your data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data (see our Delete Account page), except where we must retain limited records to meet legal obligations.
6. Your rights (DPDP Act)
You may request access to, correction of, or erasure of your personal data, and may withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawing consent may limit what the app can do for you.
7. Children
OurLocalHelp is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children. See our Community Guidelines for our child-safety policy and how to report a concern.
8. Grievance Officer
For privacy questions, complaints, or to exercise your DPDP Act rights, contact our Grievance Officer:
A registered postal address will be published here once OurLocalHelp is incorporated as a formal business entity.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be highlighted in-app.
